Mark Mietzner was a lifelong Puyallup resident and classic car fan. He was a passionate member of Cruise Puyallup, a local classic car community where owners can show off their wheels and cruise the streets with their buddies. Classic cars were a big part of his life, a hobby and passion he did with his whole heart. Another passion of his was helping people.
For the past five years, Mark battled leukemia, needing countless blood transfusions. He experienced firsthand how critical blood donors are in the community. His friend and founder of the car club, Mark Crosby, and Cruise Puyallup are hosting monthly blood drives in a campaign to reach as many potential donors as possible to rally around patients in need. Cruise Puyallup saw thousands of attendees during their 2024 events. The club works closely with the Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Association, Washington State Fair, and the City of Puyallup.
Cruise Puyallup was first started to bring families together and allow generations to experience cruising around in cars of all shapes and sizes. The mission is to help support local businesses and bring vibrancy to the town the members all love. Now, they aim to support patients in need as well.
The club’s first blood drive will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on April 26 at their cruising event at 611 S. Meridian Puyallup, WA 98371 (located in the Safeway parking lot).
The club will host monthly blood drives to follow.
